The good, bad, and the ugly.....

The Good.....
Today is a beautiful, sunny day in Fargo. I'm planning to take Evan for a walk once he gets up from his nap so we can both get some fresh air.
The Bad.....
Poor little Evan is getting a cold. Runny nose, constant sneezing, and possibly a cough from deep in the chest. Plus, he was a crabby boy this morning, but I'm sure he isn't feeling 100%.
Now for the UGLY....
Now that the snow is almost gone (Yay!!) we can walk in our backyard. We discovered this unfortunate scene when we walked back there today....

Apparently the snow was just too much for the shed to handle this winter. I sure hope nothing was damaged from the roof collapsing. What a mess!! I guess it is one more thing to add to the curb in the beginning of May for spring clean up week. We will be making a HUGE donation that week to the curb.

We're back!

We are back and we survived 2 full days of flying with a toddler. I'm not going to say it was a perfect 2 days, but we survived. On our first flight, we unfortunately became "those people" with the screaming kid. I have never witnessed an Evan temper tantrum to that extent and I live with him. Thankfully the rest of the flights went well. Our only other travel issue was getting delayed in Denver today by about 2 hours because of the snow and bad weather they were having. I guess the plus side of having to get up at 4:30 am was that Evan was tired and slept while we waited on the plane and got de-iced.
We had a lot of fun while in Phoenix and had beautiful weather while we were there. We took in an Aloha Festival, Children's Museum, shopping, good food, the zoo, and even made a trip up north to Flagstaff. Here are some pictures from our adventures ...

Riding a trike at the Children's Museum through the "car wash"

Water painting

Evan played on this for about 10-15 minutes straight. We had to pry him away from this to move on to the next station!

"Driving" station - Evan thought he was pretty hot stuff!

What flavor would you like from the Ice Cream Shop?

This picture is from our trip to Flagstaff. Sean's sister's in-laws live there and were kind enough to let us crash at their house for 2 days. Evan was in heaven!!!! They have grandsons and have a train table set up in the family room. Evan played with the trains non-stop when we were inside. We might just have to invest in some more train things after this trip!

We took the scenic route back to Phoenix from Flagstaff and drove through Sedona. It is very pretty and it was amazing how much warmer it was here just miles down the mountain. We stopped and had lunch here and let Evan walk around briefly and then we were on our way so we had some time at an outlet mall.

I think this is the only picture we got of all 3 of us! It's too easy to snap pictures of just Evan.

We went to the Wildlife Zoo on our last full day in Phoenix. It was 85 and beautiful out that day and everyone in Phoenix headed to the zoo that day. Thankfully it is pretty spread out so once we were in there it didn't seem too crowded. Here is Evan with the giraffes.

They even have a giraffe feeding station. Evan was not hesitant at all to try this. It's not everyday we get to try this so we took advantage of it. I have never done this before and people warned me that their tongues are very long. Oh My!!!! Thank goodness he just stuck his tongue out and waited for the food to be dropped on it instead of licking our hands. GROSS!!!

That is some serious tongue action!!!!

Our last stop at the zoo was in the aquarium. Evan loved the sharks, "Nemo" fish, and penguins. It ended up being a fun day and he LOVED it.

I'll post some more pictures this weekend of Evan and his cousin Keely. They played pretty well together. We can't wait to go back!!

Weekend....where are you???

Weekends just go too fast!! Although, I am ready to get this week underway because we will be heading to sunny (I hope) Arizona on Saturday for some relaxation and fun! I'm definitely getting excited!
Well, this weekend we started yet another project. I'm not sure we know how to have a weekend without a project anymore! We (ok so it was 99% Sean) started replacing the stairs today. If you were fortunate to see our original black and white checkered kitchen floor then you might have a good idea of what our stairs look like except think pink and brown. If you can't picture it, don't worry I've included some pictures. The project is no where near done. We are holding off on staining the stairs until we can dispose of the huge chest deep freezer the previous owners so kindly left for us. It's huge and doesn't work so once spring clean up week rolls around it will have a new home out on the curb and I will have room in the basement to reorganize some store room things. So many things to do when you have an older home!! It keeps us busy! Of course I'm also including a couple of Evan pictures too because I'm pretty sure most people reading this come for those!! Here you go.....

Having some ice cream with dad
YUM!!

Out with the old....

In with the new.....

I promise I will someday post a picture of this project completed along with all the doors Sean started last week. Once the weather gets a little warmer we will be able to finish up some of the lingering jobs. I can't wait!

Sick day

Evan and I are home today. Evan has a touch of a stomach bug so we are lounging in our pjs and watching a lot of cartoons. Hopefully it is a quick bug. As you can see from the picture he isn't looking too bad already, but he hasn't had much to eat yet today so time will tell!!

Project weekend

This weekend was filled with projects. I definitely kept Sean busy! We are going to slowly start painting all of our doors in the house to get them all to be white so they match the woodwork. Right now they are an unfinished wood color and the woodwork throughout the house is all white. I'm hopeful it will look nice when finally finished. After trying to paint 2 of them in the basement, Sean decided that he will need to wait until he can do the rest outside. It was just too hard working around all the plastic in the basement.
Other projects included trying to rid the driveway of ice - which was only partly successful - and to organize Evan's closet. We bought a closet organizer to put up, but once we started we changed our mind and decided to just put shelves up on the one side of the closet. It ended up being much easier and gave me the room I was wanting for his clothes. Here are some pictures from the weekend....

The closet before....

Evan "helping"

Evan only helped briefly and then I caught him in our bed watching TV!

The mess from the closet "before"...

The organized mess!! It's so much better than before!

I bought Evan an alphabet puzzle at the dollar store today and he was entertained with it for at least a half an hour tonight. It's fun hearing him try to say the letters! Most aren't close, but he tries!
